HMI, Hyundai Italian Team, is at the start line of the 2015 IRC with the i20 WRC. After the first experience in competition at the Rally 1000 Miglia, Corrado Fontana returns to the wheel of a last generation World Rally Car to fight for the title which he has already won four times. The driver from Como, who last weekend enjoyed an intense day of testing with the car, will, as a one-off, be codriven by Giovanni Agnese, with whom in 2013 he conquered in the Rally Valli Cuneesi the victory which gave him his fourth success in the championship.
Corrado Fontana: “We are at the start of the Championship knowing that we can do very well. The test we carried out in recent days has allowed us to adapt the Hyundai both to the characteristics of the "Italian roads" and to the Pirelli tyres. It is clear that during the Elba Rally we will need to work to refine the set-up, but we have already found a good base. Last year we took a beautiful victory in this Rally... we want to repeat it!”.
The programme of the 2nd Rallye Elba Internazionale: scrutineering and technical checks in Portoferraio on the morning of Friday, April 17th, from 10:00 to 14:00 shakedown on the Volterraio stage. In the evening, start at 18:00, with the first three special stages and the arrival in Portoferraio at 23:00. Restart at 9:00 on Saturday 18th for two loops of three special stages, finish in Piazza Cavour in Portoferraio at 18:30. Total distance of 397 kms, of which 133 of special stages.
